Ex-England, Spurs and Man Utd striker Teddy Sheringham rarely leaves the country these days without his sticks packed.
My first ever golf holiday was to…Portugal, and I’ve been going ever since. I love it.
My most recent golf holiday was to…Ireland. I played Old Head, which is a stunning golf course with amazing views.
My favourite golf course is…Valderrama. It’s the toughest course I’ve ever played, but it’s also my favourite. I must like a challenge!
My ideal holiday fourball would comprise…Tiger Woods, Bobby Moore and Jessica Alba.
My most memorable/best ever round was at…San Lorenzo in Portugal. When it’s in great nick, I just love the course and have been lucky enough to play quite well there.
My favourite golf destination is…Dubai. It’s got a nice array of different golf courses, world class hotels, and obviously the weather is always great over there.
I always travel with…my golf clubs! I’ve been playing for nearly 30 years – pretty much from the time when I started playing professional football. Luckily as a footballer you get a bit of free time in the afternoons, so I used to go down to the local course with one of my mates from Millwall. It was playing with him that I caught the golfing bug.
The best hotel I’ve ever stayed in was…the Arts Hotel in Barcelona. It’s a five-star hotel located right on the beach overlooking the sea, and is a perfect spot for relaxing, as well as enjoying the city.
My favourite city in the world is…Rome. It can be a bit manic, but it’s a beautiful city. I love Italy – the food, the culture, the relaxed way of life, and, of course, the weather.
My most memorable holiday meal was at…Parrilla Natural Restaurant on the edge of the Quinta de Lago Resort in Portugal. I got married there three years ago, so it will also have a special place in my heart.
My worst holiday experience was…in theMaldives, with my now wife Kristina. We booked it for 10 days, but after five days of non-stop horizontal rain, we flew to Dubai for the other five days and enjoyed bright sunshine.
My bucket-list golf course…Augusta. Isn’t it everybody’s?
My top travel tip is…always take your golf clubs. You never know when the next round might crop up!
