Nestling in the wooded hills above the Wye Valley between Ross on Wye, Ledbury and Newent, The Ross on Wye Golf Club is one of the finest courses in the South West Midlands. Rolling fairways lined with mature stands of trees mean that accuracy and course management are at a premium rather than just length of hitting.

The beautiful Herefordshire countryside makes this a relaxing, friendly and picturesque place to play golf in any season but be too aggressive and the course will bite back – hard.

Designed by the leading architect Ken Cotton in the early 1960’s, the club is now advised by another outstanding course architect, Donald Steel – the architect for many famous courses including the redesign to championship standard of the Jubilee Course at St. Andrews.

Sympathetically laid out to follow the natural contours of the hills “The Ross on Wye Golf Club” is a haven for wildlife. Wild daffodils and bluebells carpet the woods in springtime and the autumn leaves are worth the walk on their own.

Expect the company of numerous squirrels and look out for the buzzards regularly circling overhead, and, if you are really lucky you may see the odd Muntjac deer.

Visitors

The club warmly welcomes visitors and will accommodate individuals or groups weekdays and weekends where available, fitting around the Club’s own competitions and matches. Please feel free to contact the Club 01989 720267 for availability. Visitors may commence their rounds after 0930 but not between 1200-1400 (except on a Thursday). Depending on the time of day and size of group, we may ask you to start your round on either the 1st or 10th tee.

To complement the golfing experience, the clubhouse provides comfortable and hospitable surroundings in our bar, spikes bar, and restaurant and on warmer days the patio is available.

The kitchen offers a wide-ranging menu, from snacks to three-course meals, thoughtfully prepared and offered throughout the day. In addition, the well-stocked Bar is a haven for those who wish to gather to recount the details of their rounds or how many balls they have lost!

The tree-lined course hosted an England Golf national event on 2016 and this demonstrates the quality and challenging nature of our course, and we ask that players have a recognised handicap and respect both the Rules of Golf and the etiquette of the game.
