With a limited release of eye-catching new finishes, Titleist has opted for an all-black look for its acclaimed T-Series T100•S and T200 Irons, with similar treatment being afforded to the ever-popular Vokey Design SM8 Wedges.

Available from August 28th for a limited time, the irons are finished with a sleek High Polish Black PVD coating. Each model is complemented by a glare-reducing matte black shaft – Project X LZ Onyx (T100•S) or DG Onyx AMT Black (T200) – and an all-black Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 grip.

Vice of Golf Club Marketing, Josh Talge, said: “T100•S and T200 have proven to be incredible feats of engineering that really show what it takes to be a Titleist iron. It’s the ultimate blend of classic shaping and modern technology. You’re getting the look and feel of a true player’s iron, but with the added speed, launch and forgiveness that allows you to take aim from farther away. We’ve heard from many golfers asking us to build these all-black editions – the combination of the Black PVD finish with the matte black shaft and matching grip is just stunning.”

The T-Series irons have quickly become the most-played iron model on the PGA Tour. Australia’s Cameron Smith won the Sony Open in Hawaii playing a set of T100 Black irons. While Lanto Griffin, who put in his request for black T100s after seeing Smith post a picture of them on Instagram, used them to win the Houston Open.

T100•S Technology

T100•S irons are the only fully-forged player’s distance iron in the category, designed to deliver the same tour-level precision and signature feel as T100 in 2-degree stronger lofts for longer distance. Each iron has been individually calibrated to give better players the added distance they need to score lower, while preserving the feel and precision required for superior shot shaping.

T200 Technology

T200 irons deliver powerfully playable distance in a tour-inspired shape – with Max Impact Technology, a striking innovation that extends maximum speed across the entire face of mid and long irons while preserving superior sound and feel. A super thin forged face is backed by a unique polymer core – developed in partnership with Titleist Golf Ball R&D – to provide consistently better distance from every swing, without sacrificing looks, feel, trajectory or stopping power.

New Wedges

Additionally, the SM8’s Jet Black raw finish has been enhanced with a black paint fill in the logos and graphics, complemented by a Dynamic Gold S200 Black Onyx shaft and exclusive Golf Pride New Decade Multi Compound Black/Grey grip with BV Wings.

Limited Jet Black SM8 wedges are available in golf shops August 28th, with all 23 loft, bounce and grind combinations (in both RH and LH) available through custom order or WedgeWorks on www.titleist.co.uk/golf-clubs/wedges/wedgeworks.

Vokey’s Aaron Drill said: “I’ve been stocking more and more Jet-Black heads on the Tour Van each year. Players love the look of it, and the contrast you get when you add custom stamping and paintfill – it just pops. Jet Black also helps players reduce glare on those really bright days. When you add in the black shaft and grip, it’s a sharp setup.”

SM8 Tech

Great wedge play comes from distance control, shot versatility and spin. SM8 improves performance in all three areas through the following key innovations:

  • Reimagined Progressive CG is pushed forward from the face for increased MOI (up to a +7% increase in the higher lofts) – producing improved distance and trajectory control, better feel and a club face that simply wants to square up at impact for more consistent results. To achieve this, Vokey’s team lengthened the hosels and counterbalanced that weight with highdensity tungsten low in the toe.
  • Vokey’s six Tour-Proven Sole Grinds – F, S, M, K, L and D – developed and refined through decades of work with the best shot makers in the game, allow golfers of all skill levels to be precisely fit for their swing type (steep, neutral, shallow), shot making style and course conditions (firm, neutral, soft).
  • 100% Inspected Spin Milled Grooves are cut with a level of precision that is unique by finish, producing maximum spin and shot control. Micro-grooves are individually cut in between grooves, which maximise spin on partial shots. A proprietary heat treatment is applied to the impact area to double the durability of the groove without impacting feel.

The Vokey Wedge Selector tool on Titleist.co.uk helps golfers select the proper loft, bounce and grind options for their swing and course conditions. Vokey recommends that golfers visit their local Titleist fitter to confirm the results.

Limited Jet Black SM8 wedges are available for pre-order from August 11th and are available to purchase in-store from August 28th SRP £185 / €220.00 (RH & LH), while the Titleist T-Series T100•S and T200 Black irons are available for a limited time from August 28th. SRP £185, €220.00, 7 per club (£1,295 / €1,540 set of 7). LH available in both models.
