American golfer Patrick Reed received some stick from his win at the Farmers Insurance Open this weekend.

The 9 time PGA Tour winner allegedly moved his ball out of the rough of the fairway, before consulting with a rules official.

His victory of the tournament was overshadowed by the incident, putting all focus onto him moving the position of the ball, after claiming it did not bounce. The moving of the ball was a result of the referee agreeing with Reed that it did not bounce, and a free drop was entirely necessary and fair here.

According to Reed, the nearest volunteer in view of the ball did not see it bounce, which led to the ball being picked up before official consent was given.

Reed was still the winner nonetheless, but it leaves us with the question: Was Patrick Reed right for getting a free drop for an embedded ball during the Farmers Insurance Open?
